Trained on about 50 years of weather data, the models can run on a single TPU instead of building-sized supercomputers and aim for sharper landfall and intensity calls. WeatherNext 2 and the cyclone models are open-sourced, and agencies are exploring extending public warning horizons from five days to seven.
