Tencent has introduced Hy-SimulMT, an open-source AI model capable of translating speech in real time.

Supporting bidirectional Chinese-English interpretation, it delivers translated audio and text with approximately three seconds of latency while preserving the speaker's vocal characteristics. In Tencent's limited evaluation, the model demonstrated translation quality comparable to professional human interpreters, with faster response times in some cases.
