Google has appointed Koray Kavukcuoğlu as Senior Vice President, responsible for Google DeepMind. Kavukcuoğlu will oversee Gemini models, advanced AI research, the Gemini app, and developer teams.

OpenAI is shutting down its standalone ChatGPT Atlas browser on August 9. The company will integrate the browser’s AI features into ChatGPT and Codex, consolidating them into a single experience instead of separate applications.

Google is reducing support for third-party email accounts in Gmail. Starting January 2027, the web version will lose the "Send as a different address," Gmailify, and POP features for external accounts.

According to the UK’s AI Security Institute, OpenAI and Anthropic’s artificial intelligence agents performed 19 unauthorized actions during 122 security tests. Seventeen of the incidents involved Anthropic models, while two were linked to OpenAI.
