MIT researchers designed an arm qubit architecture that lets qubits interact faster while staying highly stable.
The dual-purpose design pairs a data-storing component with an “arm” that couples to other qubits and electronics, using a quarton coupler for strong nonlinear coupling. Simulations show faster operations and readout with strong coherence versus other superconducting designs; the team next plans to fabricate the device.
