Engineers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have developed EmArm, a robotic arm with artificial skin capable of sensing human touch.
Equipped with soft optical sensors, the system can recognize five types of physical interaction, including stroking, pinching, and tickling, with up to 99.8% accuracy. EmArm also uses tactile feedback to balance objects, detect obstacles, and adjust its movements in real time.
