Anthropic has introduced mods for Claude Code, allowing developers to customize its behavior with small TypeScript functions.

Mods can rewrite prompts, intercept tool calls, manage permissions, redact sensitive output and even replace parts of the interface. They are available in both the Claude Code CLI and desktop app and can be distributed through plugins.
