The European Space Agency (ESA) has released the first images and measurements from Sentinel-3C, launched in September.
The satellite's OLCI instrument captured natural-colour views of Italy, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and the Caribbean, while its SRAL altimeter measured sea-surface height across the Atlantic and Mediterranean and ice-sheet elevation over Greenland. Commissioning will take another five months, after which ESA and EUMETSAT will jointly run the satellite, which tracks everything from ocean temperature to wildfires.
