Princeton University researchers developed an ultrathin semiconductor whose electrical and optical properties can be programmed, erased and reprogrammed with light.
Light-responsive molecules attached to the material change shape at different wavelengths, allowing its conductivity to be adjusted. The team created programmable switch arrays on a one-inch-square sample and is now working to connect them into a circuit.
