ESA and ispace-Europe began implementing MAGPIE, which is set to become Europe’s first rover on the Moon.

Scheduled for launch in 2029, the rover will spend approximately 10 Earth days searching for water and other volatiles and studying subsurface geology at the lunar south pole. MAGPIE will carry a drill, analyser, ground-penetrating radar and neutron detector.
