Google Research has introduced a new federated learning system with externally verifiable privacy guarantees.

The approach processes encrypted training data inside Trusted Execution Environments while allowing server-side workloads to be audited and speeding up model training. Google says the system is already being used for English and Japanese next-word prediction models in Gboard.
